Bidhannagar Commissionerate police have arrested two close associates of Jalpaiguri district’s Rajganj Block Development Officer (BDO) Prashant Barman in connection with the kidnapping and murder of Duttabad gold merchant Swapan Kamilya, who was abducted on October 28 and found dead the next day.
According to police sources, those arrested have been identified as Raju Dhali, who was Barman’s driver in Kolkata , and Tufan Thapa, a contractor from north Bengal said to be ‘close’ to the BDO.
They were produced before a court and have been sent to police custody for 12 days.
A case was registered after Kamilya’s family filed a complaint on November 4.
