Srinagar, Nov 7: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday recovered a weapon from the locker of a former senior resident doctor at the Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag in south Kashmir.

According to officials, the recovery was made during a joint operation conducted by the Srinagar Police and the Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) Anantnag. The doctor, identified as a resident of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, has been detained for questioning.

A senior police officer said the weapon was found inside the doctor’s personal locker on the college premises. “The accused had been serving as a senior resident doctor at GMC Anantnag until October 24, 2024. Both the weapon and the individual have been taken into custody by the police,” the officer said.
