EAST LANSING — No. 21 Michigan State basketball dominated No. 15 Arkansas in the paint, nearly doubling up the Razorbacks on Saturday, Nov. 8, at Breslin Center en route to a 69-66 victory.
The edge inside barely made up for some rough outside shooting, repeating a trend for MSU from last season, as the Spartans hit just one of 14 from outside.
A newcomer this season, Cam Ward, led the Spartans inside, posting a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. The freshman from Maryland had 12 points in the first half on 6-for-10 shooting and added five rebounds in his first extended run, following 11 minutes in the Spartans’ opener on Monday.
MSU outscored Arkansas, 46-28, in the paint, including a 10-point edge in the first half.
