FORT DODGE, IA – The No. 23 Walters State men’s cross country team finished in 22nd place at the NJCAA DII Cross Country Championships on Saturday afternoon, and the Lady Senators finished in 41st place.
The men’s team ran an 8k, while the women’s race was a 5k. Both teams battled cold and snowy conditions all race.
As has been the case this season, Gage and Gavin Slagle led the way for Walters State. Gage Slagle was the first brother to finish, coming in 21st place with a time of 27:31. Gage’s 21st place finish was the best finish in Walters State program history.
Not far behind Gage was his brother, Gavin, in 31st place with a time of 27:44. Next for Walters State was Evan Miller in 169th place with a time of 30:24, and Edgar Martinez came in 208th place with a time of 31:13. Roundin
