ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — A woman is wounded and a man is charged after a shooting on Saturday evening in Elizabeth City.

Elizabeth City Police Department responded to the call in the area of North Road Street and West Cypress Street at 4:47 p.m., according to a police press release.

Officers found the victim, a woman, at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center suffering from a gunshot wound. She was later taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Officers have arrested Daniel Edmond Grace, 46, of the 100 block of West Cypress Street, according to the press release. He has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, discharge a weapon in occupied property, and discharge a firearm in the city.
