NEW BALTIMORE – If Macomb Dakota isn’t the youngest team in Division 1, the Cougars are very close.
With four freshmen and two sophomores gaining minutes on varsity this season, Dakota has enjoyed tremendous growth over the past three months.
The Cougars passed another big test Friday night at Anchor Bay High School.
After dropping the first two sets, Dakota rallied back to earn a 3-2 win over rival Macomb L’Anse Creuse North to claim both the reverse victory and earn a Division 1 district championship – the school’s 15th overall since opening its doors 30 years ago and first since 2022.
The Cougars posted a 23-25, 19-25, 25-23, 25-20, 15-7 win over the Crusaders to advance to next week’s regionals.
