HAMMETT, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — One man is dead after a two-vehicle crash on Saturday on westbound Interstate 84 near Hammett.
The crash occurred at milepost 110 at 2:12 p.m. in Elmore County near the Hammett Hill Road exit, according to Idaho State Police .
A 55-year-old man driving a white pickup truck departed the eastbound lanes into oncoming westbound traffic. The man crashed head-on into a tan pickup truck driven by a 29-year-old man.
Both vehicles were fully engulfed after the crash, according to ISP. The 29-year-old man died on scene, while a helicopter airlifted the 55-year-old man to a hospital.
ISP said the crash blocked all lanes near the Hammett Hill Road exit for around three hours.
The crash remains under investigation.
