KIMBERLY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — In Kimberly, a high school student was holding her own food drive to benefit local pantries.

Harmony Kelso held the Harmony Food Drive in Kimberly City Park Saturday. There she and her mother collected dry and canned goods from people

Kelso said she decided to hold the drive not only for her senior project, but also to help those whose SNAP benefits were cut due to the government shutdown. The food donated will go to East End Providers and the Rock Creek Food Pantry, where she volunteers at.

“I know we’ve had high demands around the Magic Valley for people who needed more food and more people coming in, so I just noticed that hey, maybe we put a food drive together get more food so we can help others,” Harmony said.
