HOUSTON – A local Little League organization is reeling after thieves targeted their baseball field twice within 24 hours, stealing copper wiring and causing an estimated $15,000 in damage.

The OFA Little League, which serves nearly 100 baseball and softball players, discovered that thieves had cut through the facility’s gate and stripped power lines, leaving the field without electricity.

According to board president Amy, the suspects first struck Friday night, then returned hours later to take what remained of the copper wiring.

The damage has forced the cancellation of all games scheduled for next week. The organization hopes to resume play next Saturday, depending on whether it can raise enough money for temporary generators and permanent repairs.
