ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - University of Georgia tight end Lawson Luckie was ruled out during Saturday’s 41-21 win over Mississippi State after taking a brutal hit to the head in the second quarter.
Luckie had been ruled out of the game after he collided helmet-to-helmet with two defenders while trying to catch a pass. He was seen getting back up after it appeared he wasn’t moving.
Luckie was able to walk back to the locker room to be evaluated by the medical staff.
Head coach Kirby Smart provided an update after the game.
“He obviously got a shot to the head. He’s fine, he’s moving,” Smart said. “He wanted to go back into the game but the powers that be held him out.”
A targeting penalty was called on the play, and Manning was ejected from the game.
