Delhi woke up to a blanket of thick smog on Sunday, with air quality dipping into the ‘severe’ category across several parts of the city. According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the national capital’s overall Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 391 at 7 a.m., signalling hazardous pollution levels.
Several areas recorded alarming readings above 400.
Bawana and Wazirpur were the worst affected with an AQI of 436 each, followed closely by Burari Crossing (430), Vivek Vihar (424), ITO (420), and Narela (420). Other areas such as RK Puram (419), Sonia Vihar (416), Anand Vihar (413), and Okhla Phase-II (405) also remained in the ‘severe’ zone.
