A 16-year-old is in critical condition after being shot in east Macon Saturday night, according to a Bibb County Sheriff's Office press release.

They say deputies were dispatched to the 900 block of Gray Highway at around 8:40 p.m. Sunday night.

A 16-year-old boy was shot, the press release said, and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

They say the teenager is listed as in "critical but stable condition."

The sheriff's office says the circumstances leading up to the shooting are still under investigation.
