A late-game surge and a determined overtime effort propelled William & Mary to a 30-27 victory over Campbell on Saturday afternoon in Buies Creek, North Carolina. The win marked the Tribe’s sixth of the season and its second overtime victory of the year.
After Campbell opened the extra period with a 23-yard field goal, quarterback Tyler Hughes sealed the win for William & Mary with a 6-yard touchdown run. The Tribe improved to 6-4 overall and 5-2 in conference play, while Campbell fell to 2-8 and 2-4.
Trailing 24-13 with less than two minutes remaining in regulation, the Tribe mounted an impressive comeback. Running back Rashad Raymond scored on a 2-yard run with 1:51 left, and Hughes connected with tight end Haven Mullins for a two-point conversion to make it 24-21. Linebacker Jake Wort
