Queensland Liberal Premier David Crisafulli has sensationally said “cannoli diplomacy is off the menu” after he publicly rejected the federal governments hospital funding proposal.
Mr Crisafulli coined the term “cannoli diplomacy” last year, riffing on the fact that both he and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese were of Italian descent, to outline a willingness for his LNP government to work productively with Labor in Canberra.
“There’s nothing that can’t be solved over a bit of common sense and a cannoli”, Mr Crisafulli said last year.
However, the Queensland Premier outlined that “cannoli diplomacy” would cease as he announced at the LNP’s state council on Sunday that his government would be rejecting the Commonwealth’s hospital funding proposal.
