Some of racing’s biggest trainers breathed a sigh of relief heading into this year’s spring carnival after initially fearing they were going to be booted off Flemington by 2030.
The group mistakenly believed their leases would not be renewed after 2029, giving them five years to look for new homes to prepare their 600 horses.
One alternative being explored was Racing Victoria building a new track and training facility on a huge chunk of land it bought in 2022 near Melbourne Airport.
