The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 4:39 a.m. on Sunday for dense fog until 8 a.m. for Cattaraugus and Allegany counties.
"Regional observations indicate areas of fog across the Southern Tier this morning, including portions of Interstate 86. Some of this fog is locally dense in spots, with visibilities down to a quarter of a mile or less at times. If you will be traveling this morning, be sure to slow down and be prepared for rapid changes in visibility. The fog is expected to dissipate after sunrise," according to the weather service.
