An Edinburgh MSP has criticised the NHS waiting times for children's autism and ADHD assessments, claiming thousands of youngsters have been "abandoned" on lists.
Daniel Johnson, Labour MSP for Edinburgh Southern, was diagnosed with ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) just over 10 years ago, at the age of 35.
Following his own experience as an adult, he has joined parents, charities and fellow politicians in demanding quicker access to vital interventions and support for children in Scotland.
As reported by the Sunday Mail , over 28,000 children and young people are on waiting lists for neurodevelopmental conditions, with some left for more than four years without an appointment.
