I'm thinking of protests, in particular protests following the practice of nonviolent resistance and non-violent leadership of protests. Some of us in Asheville recently gathered honoring a leader and friend whose local leadership as a teenager in nonviolent civil rights protests long ago in our hometown influenced all our lives.
In early October we celebrated a special native son, the late James E. Ferguson, II, Esquire, (1942-2025), and his life in a remembrance service, then shared a meal and more memories at St. James AME Church. Starting in his-our hometown Asheville, Ferguson was a great civil rights leader working throughout his life statewide, nationally, and internationally.
