Major U.S. cities are hosting protests against the Trump administration on Veterans Day .

The "Vets Say No" protests , organized by About Face, a movement of post 9/11 veterans, and May Day Strong, a self-described anti-authoritarian movement, will take place on Tuesday, November 11, across the country.

A Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) spokesperson told Newsweek the department "has multiple safeguards in place to ensure" that "staff reductions do not impact veteran care or benefits. All VA mission-critical positions are exempt from the DRP [deferred resignation program] and VERA [Voluntary Early Retirement Authority], and more than 350,000 positions are exempt from the federal hiring freeze."
