DICKINSON — On October 27, Attorney Sarah Vogel visited The Rural Collective in Hettinger to address a book club that had just read her memoir, “The Farmer’s Daughter.”

The story traces her life from her childhood in North Dakota amongst Nonpartisan Leaguers to her east coast career in law and government policy, and culminates in her work in Coleman v Block, the 1983 class action lawsuit she brought against the Farmer’s Home Administration (FmHA), representing farmers during the height of the 1980s farm crisis.

In Hettinger, Vogel shared her motivation for putting the story to paper nearly forty years later. She thought there was going to be another farm depression, and she told her readers in Hettinger,
