STAMFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - A person is fighting for their life after being struck by a car in Stamford on Saturday night.

At around 10:30 p.m. officers were called to the area of High Ridge Road after a report of a crash involving a pedestrian, the police department said.

Following an investigation, it was revealed that a driver of a Nissan Altima was going southbound on High Ridge Road when they suddenly hit a pedestrian who was crossing the street.

The operator was identified as a 30-year-old Stamford resident.

Police said there were no marked crosswalks in this portion of the road.

The pedestrian was transported to a nearby hospital for life-threatening injuries and is currently in critical condition.

Officials said the identity of the pedestrian is not being released at this time.
