CLEVELAND — Coming off his rookie season, Jaylon Tyson received a challenge from Cavaliers star guard Donovan Mitchell . He took it to heart to such an extreme degree that Mitchell had to send a second message: It's OK to leave the gym and go home every now and then.
Tyson had a first year full of learning curves, as many do. He played about 10 minutes per game and averaged 3.6 points and 2.0 rebounds — modest numbers as he tried to find his footing both in the NBA and within Kenny Atkinson's rotation . For the most part, he remained at the end of Cleveland's bench.
That led to some direction from Mitchell, who took Tyson under his wing, to a degree.
