SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) - One person has been arrested and another taken to the hospital following a shooting in Spartanburg County.

According to Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office, deputies and officers with Wellford Police Department were called to a scene on South Carolina Highway 29 near Thornton Lane in reference to a shooting victim.

When law enforcement arrived, a suspect in the shooting was still on scene and taken into custody without incident. The victim in the shooting was transported to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The sheriff's office said an investigation into the incident revealed the shooting took place within the city limits in Wellford, and the case has been turned over to the police department.
