MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) -- Concerns are continuing to mount for Myrtle Beach International Airport travelers as a government shutdown nears its 40th day -- with many seeing flights delayed, cancelled or rerouted.

"We're mad. Yeah, we're definitely mad. Confused, mad and frustrated," New Jersey resident Thomas Zbranak said Sunday.

Staffing shortages across the nation are now impacting major airports. Tracking site FlightAware reported Sunday afternoon that more than 16,000 flights were delayed, with 2,000 cancelled.

That includes at Raleigh-Durham International Airport, which reported 38 delays as of Saturday night, along with 19 cancellations.

In Myrtle Beach, one of those cancelled flights was to Newark International -- a trip New Jersey resident Nelson Diaz was slated to make.
