The Santa Maria City Council gave the green light to the creation of "James 'Jim' D. Glines Way" on Tuesday night, closing the circle on initial discussions to honor "Mr. Santa Maria" that began in June.
With members of the Glines family, friends and numerous individuals touched by Glines' generosity, passion for the Santa Maria valley and philanthropic efforts in attendance, the council unanimously passed a proclamation to rename a portion of S. Miller Street in honor of the longtime banker, auctioneer and community champion who died in February.
