After dishing up dough to Fairbanks for over 25 years, College Town Pizzeria closed its doors in August. But the end of an era marks a new start for Pipeline Wine Bar, a “casual yet upscale social and wine experience” opening Nov. 14 under new ownership.
Cheryl Slaughter is busy remodeling the storied shop where she plans to serve fine wine, hold tastings and promote local art with events. It’s planned to be open 3-9 p.m., Tuesday-Friday and 3-10 p.m. on Saturdays.
College Town opened in 1999, born out of Doghouse Pizza in Fox, according to Chase Kimbrell, former owner who sold the storefront to Slaughter. Vince Fusco was the owner and operator back then. He brought his New York style pizza North and became well known and liked for his recipes.
