DYER COUNTY, Tenn. (KFVS) - A small earthquake was recorded near the Bootheel early Sunday morning, November 9.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a magnitude 2.7 earthquake was detected at 12:49 a.m., approximately 4.4 miles southeast of Ridgely, Tennessee.

This is just south of the Obion-Dyer County line and across the Mississippi River from Caruthersville.

The depth of the quake was measured at 3.1 miles.

As of 9:30 a.m., nine people have reported to the USGS that they felt the earthquake. All of these reports came from the Obion, Ridgely and Dyersburg areas.
