A man was seriously injured when he fell out of a deer stand late Saturday afternoon. It happened in a wooded area in the Zion Hill Community between Jasper and Kirbyville.

Firefighters said it took about 45 minutes to reach the man, and another 45 minutes to carry him out of the woods.

A medical helicopter landed at the scene, but it immediately experienced engine failure after landing, so another medical helicopter had to respond.

The name of the injured is not known.
