It was another off week for the football team, but there was still plenty to talk about.
Last Sunday, head coach Shane Beamer announced the firing of first-year offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Mike Shula. The Gamecocks rank last in the SEC in total offense and scoring offense. It’s the only offense in Power Four football not to reach at least 350 yards in a game this season.
During the week, Beamer announced that wide receivers coach Mike Furrey will be the play caller for the rest of the season. Furrey, a former NFL receiver, is the former head coach at Limestone and called plays for the Saints. Offensive line coach Shawn Elliott is also taking a greater role in game planning.
