LAHORE:
As consumers begin to get some relief from vegetable prices, the cost of chicken and fruits has once again started to climb, offsetting the benefits of the overall decline.
After two consecutive weeks of reduction, chicken meat prices rebounded, gaining Rs50 per kilogram within a week. Market observers believe that this upward trend may continue in the coming weeks as production issues among poultry farmers are being resolved, resulting in a gradual recovery in prices.
Meanwhile, fruit prices remained volatile due to cross-border supply constraints. Limited inflows from Iran provided partial relief; however, continued disruptions at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border have strained the supply chain, leading to another round of increases in fruit prices across major varieties.
