EDGECOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - The Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that sent a person to the hospital with gunshot wounds.

Friday, Deputies with the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office say they went to a report of a dispute at 10219 Speights Chapel Road.

While deputies were on their way, they say they got a call that a female at the same had been shot.

When they arrived, Deputies say they found Juanita Wilkins with multiple gunshot wounds.

When EMS arrived, Wilkins was taken to ECU Health Medical Center for more treatment.

Deputies learned, Hayward Mann, the boyfriend of Wilkins, had fled the before they arrived.

A short time later, Deputies say they found Mann and he was taken into custody. Also, a gun was found during his arrest.

Mann has been charged
