Cleveland Guardians pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz have been indicted in Brooklyn in a federal sports betting investigation, according to multiple reports.
According to the Department of Justice, prosecutors in Brooklyn indicted the two on the following charges:
Wire fraud conspiracy
Honest services wire fraud conspiracy
Conspiracy to influence sporting contests by bribery
Money laundering conspiracy
The two are accused of taking bribes to throw balls in the dirt or throwing balls instead of strikes, coordinating with gamblers who wagered on the speed and type of their pitches.
