THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) — A Bronx man has been accused of killing someone with a metal object after the victim was found dead, according to police.
Police received a 911 call for an unconscious man at 1851 Phelan Pl. in the Bronx just before 9 p.m. on Saturday, officials said.
Officers found a 48-year-old man inside, and were told he had been assaulted and struck in the head and body with a metal object multiple times. The man was taken to a nearby hospital and later pronounced dead by hospital staff.
On Sunday, 37-year-old Anthony Mawuena was arrested and charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.
The investigation is ongoing.
