MARLIN, Texas (KWTX) — Marlin Independent School District announced the death of a sixth grade student in a social media post.

“We are deeply saddened to share the loss of one of our sixth grade students,” the district said. “This is a devastating loss for our entire Marlin ISD family, and our hearts go out to the student’s family, friends, and all who knew and loved them.”

The district said it has arranged for the Region 12 ESC Crisis Team to be on campus Monday to provide counseling and emotional support to students and staff.

Students who need someone to talk to will have access to trained professionals, according to the district post. Families can also access 24-hour weekend counseling support by calling 1-866-752-3451.
