Portland police say Jermaine L. Young-Boyd, a 35-year-old from Portland, died in a car crash Friday when fleeing from police.
Police said that Young-Boyd and another driver were stopped in the street near Southeast 119th Avenue and Southeast Clinton Street around 3 a.m. Friday when an officer spotted them.
The officer suspected that the cars were going to start street racing and flipped a U-turn to start a traffic stop, but both cars sped away, police said in a news release.
Young-Boyd, who was driving an Audi, clipped a semi-truck and crashed into a utility pole, police said. Young-Boyd died at the scene and police didn’t immediately find the other driver.
