AMHERST COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - As Veterans Day approaches, the Amherst County Museum decided to open its 100 Years of War exhibit.
The exhibit showcases America’s involvement in some of the world’s greatest conflicts and how many Amherst County residents played a major role in winning those conflicts.
“It’s recognition of what they’ve been through and what we have to demonstrate what they’ve been through,” Museum board member Steve Walker said.
From World War 1 helmets to full Vietnam war era uniforms, the Amherst County Museum takes you back in time through the major conflict of the 20th century.
Many of the items in the museum coming from people who called the county home.
