LANSING, Mich. (WILX) -Footprints of Michigan distributed winter boots to people in need at Reutter Park Sunday, as the area received its first snowfall of the season.
The nonprofit organization has been hosting the annual winter boot distribution event for 11 years, providing footwear to those who need it most.
Geronimo Lerma, executive director of Footprints of Michigan, said the timing of today’s event was particularly important given the weather conditions.
“It helps those who are unhoused and in need, put warmth and dignity back on their feet, especially with the winter coming, like I said, our first snow today, it’s the perfect time to give back,” Lerma said.
Last year, Footprints of Michigan distributed more than 20,000 pairs of shoes to people in need.
