CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) -- Ahead of Veteran's Day on Tuesday, students at one Champaign County high school were honoring them on Sunday.
Centennial High School's archery team hosted their "Field of Flags" event Sunday afternoon. Heather Miller, an assistant coach, said that it's a community service project they started last year.
Veterans, archers, their families, and the community were there. They saw active military members bring in the colors, and then everyone got to place a flag in the lawn in front of the high school.
Miller said that there are former archery members who have served or are currently serving, and this was a way for the current archers to honor veterans just a year ahead of a big anniversary.
