RANTOUL, Ill. (WCIA) -- A dream has come true for one Rantoul family after their son, Ezra, got his Make-A-Wish granted this week.

Two-year-old Ezra has a rare disease that has no cure, impacting his brain and spinal cord. But, Ezra has a smile that could light up any room. Because of Make-A-Wish, he now has a new, four-legged best friend.

"Norman picked us, and Norman picked Ezra," his mom, Ashley Thornton, said.

It was love at first bark when Ezra's wish was granted. Norman, his new dog, made the choice easy for the family. Thornton said that when picking up the new puppy, Norman refused to leave their side.

"GM1 gangliosidosis is a rare, terminal neurological disease," Thornton said. "So, over time it just deteriorates everything."
