NORMAL ( 25News Now ) - A 13-year-old boy from Normal has died from injuries he suffered a week ago in a fire that destroyed his home.

News of Edder Diaz’s death on Saturday was shared in a letter from Parkside Junior High School administrators.

“Edder was a kind and energetic 7th grader, and his loss will be felt by many in our school community,” the letter said.

Normal firefighters rescued Edder from the burning mobile home in the 800 block of 2nd Street in Northmeadow Village.

The boy had no signs of life when firefighters found the boy in a bedroom, but paramedics were able to restore a pulse and he started breathing again on the way to the hospital, said Normal Fire Department Public Information Officer Matt Swaney. Edder had been in critical condition until his death.
