The Federal Government will dish out $45 million to support Fortescue’s renewable energy trials in the Pilbara while chasing a separate $45m package it gave to the iron ore miner.
The fresh funding comes amid ongoing claw back negotiations over Federal grant money Fortescue received for a now scrapped plan to build a green hydrogen gigafactory at Gladstone in Queensland.
The Australian Renewable Energy Agency has “made available” the latest $45m grant to help Fortescue develop a Pilbara Solar Innovation Hub.
The Hub will operate across renewable energy infrastructure the iron ore producer is building to power its mining operations.
