Two years after opening Curean, Vickie Zambrano has no idea what adventures are coming, but she does know she is saying yes.

Zambrano says she didn’t intend to open a restaurant, but maybe it was fate.

“I always joke that I guess the restaurant biz was in my blood because all my uncles, my grandpa, everyone has a restaurant,” she says. “My grandpa had the Palmetto Fine Foods on Laurens Road. I grew up watching him work at the restaurant, but I never thought that this was going to be my path.”

Zambrano started working at a sushi restaurant when she was 14 and she always had two or three jobs at once. After college in Charleston, she came back to Greenville to work on a master’s degree and bought a house, which set her path in motion.
