OXFORD, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The City of Oxford and CREATE hosted over 60 teams for their Greenpower Race at Choccolocco Park this weekend. Part of STEM learning, students were able to design, build, and race electric karts.
The Greenpower GrandPrix took over Choccolocco Park as teams kicked off the fall racing circuit that brought more than 600 middle and high school students in town to compete.
“Kids get to work on these kits in their classes or even build custom karts from the ground up using all the tools and resources they have available to them at their schools and communities,” said Drew Sparks with GreenPower USA.
One of the largest events on the circuit, CREATE Director Lorie Denton says partnering with GreenPower USA shows how far her program has come in a short time.
