BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - With the uncertainty of SNAP benefits and hundreds of thousands unsure when their next paycheck will come , more families than ever are relying on food pantries or trying to cut back on spending. But their number one priority: putting food on the table.
So, we went to a local grocery store to find ingredients to make a balanced meal for a family of four — for under $10.
“I like to meet people where they are, and that’s providing them with practical recipes and ideas for recipes that will fit their budget,” said Andrea Mathis, a local dietitian turned food blogger.
Her main goal: “To help people make recipes for their family, with what they have on hand, with ingredients that are pretty much cheap, budget-friendly.”
