The death of an e-scooter rider who was allegedly hit by a car in Adelaide has prompted further debate about their use, with the state's transport minister doubling down on its timeline of a 12-month e-scooter review.
The fatal crash was the first of two reported e-scooter incidents in South Australia in less than a week, and the man who was allegedly driving the car that hit the victim has since been arrested.
Police said they attended Port Road near Bonython Park, in Adelaide's inner west, "after reports that a man riding an electric scooter had been hit by a black Lexus sedan" on Friday, October 31.
The scooter rider — a 53-year-old man from Brompton — was taken to hospital "but sadly passed away" a week later, police said.
