KENNER, La. — Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the Lake Town area Friday night.

According to a statement by ICE, all 13 detainees are undocumented and in violation of immigration policies. Officials said one person in custody had previously been ordered removed by an immigration judge, and another had already been deported once before.

The operation involved local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, including the Kenner Police Department, which said the raid was part of a two-month joint investigation.

“We’ve always had complaints out there — nuisance crimes, everything from traffic to litter to loud music,” said Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley. “We go out there and police it, but it seemed like the activity was escalating into just lawlessness.”
