Warwickshire's top two police chiefs – the Police and Crime Commissioner and the Chief Constable – are urging the Chancellor to make policing a priority.

Their plea comes after damning revelations from the National Audit Office (NAO), showing that Warwickshire has suffered the steepest drop in government police funding per person across England and Wales, despite boasting the highest population surge.

Between 2015 and 2024, Warwickshire's population soared by roughly 12%, yet government funding per resident plummeted by an identical 12%, the NAO's latest police productivity report shows.

This twin blow – escalating demand coupled with dwindling central backing – is heaping mounting financial strain on Warwickshire Police .
