EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Cookie Plug on West Franklin Street had a food giveaway Sunday.

The owner of the bakery and Bestcoast Tacos food truck, Erik Martinez, hosted what he calls the “Oh Snap” community event.

The goal was to give out 1000 tacos as well as cookies and lemon shakeups as a thank you for the community.

He says they relocated from SoCal to Evansville in 2023, and since then he has had a lot of support, and wanted to give back.

Martinez says now was a great time to host the event, as he knows many people are struggling with SNAP.

“It’s not about solving it all with one big swipe,” Martinez says. “It’s about doing a little thing, maybe someone else will see it and they’ll want to do it, and it gives that snowball effect of how we get a really cohesive community.”
