Toyota has revealed the ninth generation of the Hilux, marking one of the most transformative updates in the model’s five-decade legacy. The global premiere, held in Bangkok, introduces the Hilux into a new era of electrified mobility, offering a broader range of powertrain choices than ever before.
In line with Toyota’s multi-pathway approach to carbon neutrality, the new Hilux range includes a battery electric vehicle (BEV) for the first time, a 48V hybrid version, ICE engines for select markets, and confirmation that a hydrogen fuel cell model will join the lineup in 2028. This strategy allows Toyota to tailor the Hilux to the varied needs of global markets, where energy infrastructure, user requirements and environmental conditions differ significantly.
