The UK's 'poshest train' is preparing to come to Edinburgh and will take passengers on a luxury journey this festive season.

Guests will be given the opportunity to indulge in a lavish seven-course Christmas lunch while speeding along at 70mph aboard one of the world's most opulent trains, reports Glasgow Live.

The 1930s Pullman-style Northern Belle – formerly part of the legendary Orient Express group – is set to make a grand return this winter.

The steam train will gracefully traverse the countryside after departing from Glasgow Central on November 29, eventually pulling into Edinburgh Waverley.

Described as a "throwback to the golden age of rail travel", the trip comes complete with a red carpet welcome for passengers as they board.
